Cherry, born on July 16th, 1942, in Hedley, Texas, led a life brimming with love and devotion to her family and faith.
Cherry married her lifelong sweetheart Jimmie Waddell on April 30th, 1958, and spent 66 loving years by his side. They met as young children as neighbors in Hedley and fell in love in their teens. Together, Cherry and Jimmie built a caring family of 6 children, 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Cherry held multiple titles - beloved wife, Mom, Grandma, and Gigi - and her love for her family was evident in everything she did. She was a skilled homemaker who ensured each family member was cared for and well-fed. She hosted Christmas every year, filling her beautiful home with baked goods, presents, and unconditional love for her family of 40+.
In addition to being a lifelong homemaker, Cherry served as a teacher’s aide at Pleasant Valley Elementary School, worked at JCPennys for ten years, and was a longtime member of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church. Cherry loved her two shih tzus, Tiffany (Tiffy) and Maddie, sports, baking, and all things beauty and fashion.
Remaining to celebrate Cherry’s memory are her husband Jimmie and their children: Cindy Munier and husband Fred, Wendy Cain and husband John, Lesa Moke and husband Shawn, Tammie Tucker and husband Ronnie, Garre Waddell, and Greg Waddell and wife Maya. Cherry is also survived by her sisters, Marsha and Katrina, her grandchildren and their spouses, and her great-grandchildren. While she will be deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew her and were raised by her care.
She is predeceased by her grandparents, Viola and Alfred Johnson; her mother and step-father, Wilma and Manford Snelson; her sister, Pamela Thomas; her son-in-law, Mike McKnight; and her grandson, Hunter Moke.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Cherry’s memory to Pleasant Valley Methodist Church.
