Christine I. Bishop, 80, of Amarillo passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016.
A Vigil Service and family visitation will be held from 6-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington, with Rev. Scott Raef as celebrant. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Chris was born April 3, 1936 in Umbarger, Texas to John Schoenenberger and Bertha Rebsamen. On March 13, 1954, she married Dallas Bishop. They celebrated 62 years of marriage. Chris retired from the Canyon Independent School District in 2011.
Chris was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral where she served for years in many ways as well as serving as a volunteer with St. Anthony’s Hospice.
Chris is survived by her husband Dallas; four children, Debbie Weigle, Becky Ewing and husband Larry, Jerry Bishop and wife Lorita, of Amarillo, Texas, Donna Sanchez and husband Danny of Midlothian, Texas; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; four sisters, Anna, Evelyn, Theresa and Sally; one brother, Tony; and many nieces and nephews.
Chris was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Hans, Karl, Albert and Joe; and four sisters, Bertha, Lucy, Adele, and Mary.
The family suggest memorials be made to St. Mary’s Cathedral School, 1200 S. Washington St., Amarillo, Texas 79102.
