Christopher Wayne Riley came into this world on December 21, 1968 and passed from this life on March 18, 2016. He was 47 years young.
Rosary will be at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia Street, on Tuesday March 22nd at 6 PM with visitation to follow. Funeral mass will be at St Mary’s Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington Street March 23 at 10 AM. Burial will be in Memory Garden Cemetery, 14200 Interstate 27.
Chris was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. He graduated from Alamo Catholic High School in 1987. He graduated from West Texas State University in 1995. Chris enjoyed a career with BNSF Railway as a Trackman/Machine Operator. He was a dedicated father who devoted his time to his two beautiful children and any extra time to a close friend, Richard Groninger.
He cherished his time that allowed him to be outdoors to hike, travel to new destinations and work in his garden. He often visited the Amarillo Little Theatre as well as the Amarillo Symphony.
Chris was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister, Usher, participant in Eucharistic Adoration and an exemplary example of living out the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He had a very kind and gentle heart.
Chris was proceeded in death by his sister Paula Ann Durham and his parents Deacon Richard (Dick) and Jo-Anne Riley all of Amarillo (of which he was their favorite).
Survivors include a son Patrick Riley and daughter Erin Riley of Canyon, TX., two sisters, Kathleen Hestra of Norman, OK and Christina Edgmon of Yukon, OK., four brothers Richard Riley of Norman, OK, Kevin Riley of Amarillo, Craig Riley of Mesa, AZ, and Shawn Riley of Lenexa, KS. He is loved by and lives on in many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Amarillo Agency for Women or Amarillo Right to Life of which he strongly supported throughout his life.
