Clarence Earl Brewer was born November 30, 1939, in Brownsboro, Texas, to Earl Dean and Clarence Anderson Brewer and went to his heavenly home on February 22, 2025, in Dallas, Texas.
The family will receive guests on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Hillside Christian Church, 6100 South Soncy. A private family interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega, Texas.
Clarence spent most of his life in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1958. He began his 42-year career with Santa Fe Railroad in 1959. He started by cleaning train cars, working his way up to being a brakeman, and ending his career as a conductor. Clarence was a member of the United Transportation Union since 1959. He was a long-time member and Master Mason of the Grand Lodge of Texas Palo Duro #1239. Clarence served on the Santa Fe Federal Credit Union board for many years. He was a fantastic musician and greatly enjoyed playing worship music at church, entertaining the inmates at the prison, playing at local establishments, and having weekly sessions at his home. His other passion was camping and fishing. He spent many days in the Stonewall, CO, area fishing for trout and enjoying being in nature with his family and friends.
Clarence was very family-oriented and attended many football, soccer, basketball, golf, and baseball games with his children and grandchildren. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and loved motocross and NASCAR racing. Clarence married the love of his life, Joyce Rae Johnson, on June 18, 1983, in Amarillo. They combined their families to create a “Brewer Bunch” of 4 boys and four girls.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Joy Brewer of Amarillo; sisters, Claudette Vigil of DeSoto, Betty Kemp, and husband Jimmy Don of Levelland, Pat Jarnagin of Amarillo; Sue Bezner and husband Tommy of Amarillo, and Joyce Davis and husband Mike of Amarillo; four sons- Scott and wife Kate of Austin, Stuart and wife Tracy of Canyon, Joseph of Surprise, AZ and Heath and wife Kristi of Amarillo; four daughters, Jacque Botto of Austin, Sandy Jefferson and husband Mark of Amarillo, Leslie Wilkerson and husband Scott of Amarillo, and Jody Martinez and husband Daniel of Amarillo; grandchildren-Baylee, Zachry, Andrew, Jessica, Logan, Katie, Abbie, Ryan, Lucas, Ian, and Jordan; great-grandchildren, Skylynn, Aden, Julien, Kylie, Madison, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents and his parents-in-law, Carl and Irene Johnson, a son, Clarence Dean, brothers-in-law Bobby Johnson and Tommy Jarnagin, and sisters-in-law Liz Kosechata and Carla McMullen.
