Allen Mixon, 81, of Amarillo died Friday April 13, 2012
Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel.
Mr. Mixon was born on July 21, 1930 in Clarendon, the middle child of three children, to Claude and Eunice Mixon. Our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother and friend went through this wonderful life that God gave to each of us with a gentle strength, quiet dignity, love, kindness, and an acute sense of propriety that has left an indelible mark on the souls he touched and who had the honor of touching him. He loved and cherished his wife Kitty with every day of his life after they met at Amarillo High School. He served his country in the US Navy. He worked hard all of his life and always had a smile and comforting word for those he cared for and nurtured. He was a good and decent man who we were all proud of. He loved golf, Dallas Cowboys and Texas Country Reporter.
He and his partner, Cecil Johnson, owned and operated Tri State machine and Supply in Amarillo until retirement.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kitty Clark Mixon on April 20, 2006; his parents, Claude E. and Eunice Mixon; and a sister Anita Buchanan.
Survivors he leaves to cherish his memory include his daughter Candy Vann and husband Tony McCreary, son Wiley C. Mixon and wife Lynette, two grandsons James Allen Vann and wife Tiffany, and Daniel Mixon, on granddaughter Tiffany Mixon, a brother Richard Gayle Mixon and numerous other family members.
