Claudette Stubblefield, 83, of Amarillo, passed away January 6, 2020.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral with Rev. Roy Kafula officiating.
Claudette was born on July 4, 1936 in Dallas, Texas to Clifford and Lillie Cozby. She married the love of her life, Max Stubblefield, on May 31, 1956 in Dallas. Not long after, Max’s job led them to Amarillo where they established a happy home and raised their three children. Claudette and Max worked side by side in their family business for over 50 years.
She was a devoted Catholic and she and Max worked many years with the RCIA team at St. Mary’s leading many to a deeper Christian faith. She also spent several years in jail ministry at the Potter County women’s facility where she drove each week to share the Gospel, prayers, hope, and encouragement to the incarcerated women looking for a better way. Her greatest love, however, was for her family. She was selfless, optimistic, and had a keen sense of humor. Her love was unconditional.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and twin infant great granddaughters.
She is survived by her husband, Max, daughter, Deborah Stubblefield and partner Kevin Reardon of Amarillo, son Steve Stubblefield and wife Priscilla of Little Elm, Texas, and daughter Susan Brown and husband Tulley of Amarillo as well as her grandchildren, Amy Fudge, Jonathan Stubblefield, Kathryn Stubblefield, Hallye Stubblefield, Beth Farmer, and Brad Brown and great grandchildren Rheece, Lillie, Reagan, Breann, and Rowdy as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
