Clifford Leonard Schaffer

Clifford Schaffer passed away February 23, 2015 in Amarillo.
Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church Children’s Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Robert Pace officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Clifford was born February 15, 1931 to Claude Clifford Schaffer and Mertie Lu Elms Schaffer. He graduated from Groom High School and then Texas A & M University in 1953. He married Josephine Ross November 12, 1955 in Norwich, England. Clifford began his career as a scientist for Pantex in 1956 and retired in 1996. While his children were growing up, he coached for Kids Inc. He was also involved in Boy Scouts Troup 99 resulting in both of his sons accomplishing Eagle Scout status.
Clifford is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter Leslie Schaffer of Amarillo and Oak Ridge, TN; two sons Kim B. Schaffer and wife Cynthia of Falls Church, VA and Dale Schaffer and wife Susan of Shavano Park, TX; two sisters Peggy Beckham of Pampa and Joan Musser of Yuma, AZ; one brother James E. Schaffer of Pampa; five grandchildren Paul, Sarah, Amber, Jamie and Scott; and one great-grandchild Asa.
Family requests donations be made to the Veterans Administration or the American Cancer Society.
