Clive Carlos Cline, 80, of Amarillo, peacefully departed this earth to be with the Lord Jesus, on April 17, 2014 at 2:02 am, after celebrating his 80th birthday.
Services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Rev. Charles Davenport and Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. Burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in Groom Cemetery, Groom, Texas.
Clive was born on April 16, 1934 to Andrew Ray Cline and Willie Mae McGowen Cline in Lamesa, Texas. He lived a humble life with his sister, Billie and brothers, Max and Gary. Clive graduated from Lamesa High School in 1952. He attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas; where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1957. He received his Masters of Education at West Texas State University. He served 50 years in the field of education. He taught in Pecos, Texas, Panhandle, Texas, Claude, Texas, and Amarillo, Texas. He retired as a vice principal in May of 1994. He continued in the classroom until March 17, 2014. He served in the United States Army and the National Guard. He was stationed in Ansbach, Germany as the Berlin Crisis was beginning. He retired as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service to this great nation.
Clive was married to Anna Lou Fields on January 27, 1956 and they raised two children, Kirk Cline and Karla Cline Smith.
Clive was a proud member and a devoted deacon of First Baptist Church in Amarillo. He had a love for the Lord and was a faithful servant.
Clive touched and influenced many children through education. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching young minds to read. He was greatly loved by his students and fellow teachers. Clive had a deep love for his country and the military. He believed in the Flag and the Constitution. Clive enjoyed traveling internationally; from taking a gulp of the Panama Canal to eating insects in Australia. His desire for new experiences and adventures was never-ending. Clive was known for his sense of humor and his library of jokes.
Clive was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Ray Cline, his mother, Willie Mae McGowen Cline, and his brothers, Max and Gary Cline.
Clive is survived by his wife, Anna Lou Fields Cline, son, Kirk Cline and wife, Marty of Amarillo, and daughter, Karla Cline Smith and husband, Greg of Amarillo. Grandchildren, Jeremy Smith and wife, Kingslee of Antonito, Colorado, Whitney Chapman and husband, John of Amarillo, Eschle Smith of Amarillo, Josh Cline and wife, Janae of Amarillo, and Micah Daly and husband, Beau, of Amarillo.
Great Grandchildren, Tenley Chapman and future Baby Daly all of Amarillo and Lillith Grace Smith of Antonito, Colorado.
Sister Billie Jacinto of Freemont, California.
The family would like to thank Childers Place and Hospice Care of the Southwest. The phenomenal and loving care given by the staff and doctors made Clive's transition from this earth to heaven a peaceful experience.
