Cloris Johnson Lamberson, 80, of Amarillo died Monday, November 9, 2009. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 13, 2009 at Southwest Baptist Church. There will be a private family burial. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home 4100 South Georgia.
Cloris was born to Bruce and Lottie Johnson on October 25, 1929 in Estelline, TX. Cloris married the love of her life, Rex, in Amarillo on June 14, 1947. They celebrated 62 years of marriage this past summer. They were active members of Southwest Baptist Church.
A graduate of Amarillo High School, Cloris worked as a secretary and medical receptionist for Dr. Merrill Winsett until her retirement. She then volunteered for several years at the Veterans Hospital and the Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospice. She was active in the community and loved to do ceramics, crochet, and counted cross stitch. Several of her crafts won awards at the Potter County Fair.
She is survived by her husband, Rex L. Lamberson of Amarillo; one daughter, DeVora Gates of Albuquerque; one son, Eric Lamberson of San Antonio; two brothers, Bruce N. Johnson of Houston and Roger D. Johnson of Amarillo; and two grandchildren, Trevor G. Gates and Colleen J. Gates.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Loraine Johnson and Judith Evans; and one brother Jim Johnson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospice, 721 N. Taylor, Amarillo, TX 79107.
