Col. Frank Jarnevic, 97, of Amarillo died September 20, 2020.
Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 25, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.
Frank was born November 23, 1922 in Kansas City, KS to Frank Nick Jarnevic and Louise Mary Jarnevic. He was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church serving as lector, usher, communion minister, announcer, religious education teacher, Stephen Ministry volunteer, BSA Hospice Volunteer, and also a communion minister at BSA Hospital. He was an Oblate in the Order of St. Benedict of Pecos Benediction Monastery in Pecos, NM. He was a life member of the Reserve Officers Association, the American Physical Therapy Association, Knights of Columbus Council 1450, and the Father Dunn Assembly of Knights of Columbus 1090. He was also a past member of downtown Kiwanis Club, American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and score graduate of United States Army command and general staff college rehabilitation center. He was a Commander of the 4222nd Support Brigade, Headquarters Company of the Army Reserve Training Unit retiring after 22 years.
He was preceded in death by wife, Fonda in 2011; 3 sisters; and his parents.
He is survived by daughter, Kate Keadle and husband Roy of Amarillo; brother, Charles Jarnevic and wife Lynn of Kansas City, KS; 2 grandchildren, Sarah Scrimpsher and husband, Caleb of Amarillo, TX and Ashley Keadle of Amarillo, TX; 6 great-grandchildren, Ayden, Jayde, Josey, Nova, Gunner and Rukkys; and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made to Holy Cross Catholic Academy, 4110 S. Bonham St. or St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral, 1200 S. Washington.
