Connie Lynn Nelson

d. August 1, 2010

A celebration of Connie’s life will be held on Saturday, August 21st at 1:00 PM in the wildflower garden at the home she shared with Rob Wheeler.Connie's special friends who shared her incredible, colorful life are invited to bring their stories,a favorite dish and reminisce with her family.  Connie passed away peacefully as she slept on August 1, 2010.  She was born July 17th, and never admitted to being older than 42, saying “age is just a number, and mine is unlisted!” Before moving to New Mexico in 1995, she worked as a hair stylist, just one of the many gifts and talents she received from her mother, Jewel.  Connie was known to many of her beloved clients as a fabulous, talented stylist, working in salons in Amarillo and Dallas.  Connie’s energy was radiant and contagious; her presence could be felt as she entered the room.  She had a way of putting any situation, good or bad, into perspective with her wit and abundant light.  She was the type of friend that would celebrate with you in the good times, listen to you in the bad times and encourage you at all times.  She was a “Mee-Maw” to many.  Many would be envious of the fact that Connie had the opportunity to hand select her family.  She joyfully maintained relationships that she treasured and nurtured throughout the decades.  Her chosen family and her domino group knew what great pride she took in the many Thanksgiving dinners and legendary Christmas parties that were hosted at the beautiful home in Pecos.  She will always be remembered as the life of the party. She is now at peace and in perpetual light with her beloved mother and friends that have gone on before her.  Connie is survived by her life long best friend, Rob Wheeler and partner Ralph Stuart of Pecos, NM; loving caregiver and friend Cindy Gallegos and partner Carlos of Pecos, NM; her niece Alisa Difatta Barnett and husband Ryan of Dallas, TX and a host of close friends too numerous to list; and of course her kitty, Tiger.  Those desiring to make memorial contributions may do so to Pecos People for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS - PO Box 704 - Pecos, NM 87552).
