Connie Beth Stephenson passed away, February 16, 2015, in Dallas Texas. Funeral Services will be Friday, February 20, 2015 at Hillside Christian Church with Ron Kohler and Sean Vokes officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Connie was born September 26, 1962, in Amarillo, to Milton David and Stella Elizabeth Capps Woolsey. She married the love of her life Bob Stephenson on August 9, 1986.
Connie graduated from Tascosa High School in 1981.
Connie loved people and served them through her compassionate heart and infectious smile. She started her career at the American Quarter Horse Association, and for seven years, she provided child-care in her home. Connie loved babies! As a young girl Connie was the “poster child” for United Way. Little did she know that years later she would return to United Way and serve as the welcoming heart greeting the many community volunteers. Connie’s last place of employment was the Samaritan Pastoral Counseling Center of Amarillo. Working side by side with her sisters in law, Connie once again shared her spiritual gifting of hospitality and service by embracing the many clients who were looking for hope and healing. She was the ultimate team player and loved by all who worked with her.
Connie’s most precious roles in life were those of mother, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She loved greatly and was greatly loved! It is not unusual to hear her being referred to as, “Sweet Connie.” Connie had many physical struggles in life, but despite being told multiple times “you will never…,” she always did!
Connie is preceded in death by her mother, Stella, who passed away June 6, 1985.
She is survived by her husband Bob; one son Shea David Stephenson and wife Brooke of Lubbock; her father David Woolsey and wife Vonda; one brother Joe David Woolsey and wife Twilla; two grandchildren Zoe and Preston; two sister-in-laws Donna Haag and husband Bob; Debbie Burt and husband Richard; mother-in law Georgia Stephenson; and nephews Chris Woolsey, Gerry Haag, Rich Haag, Ty Frost, Jeremy Frost, Nicholas Birchfield, Joshua Birchfield, Junior Miller, and Paul Burt; one step niece Destiny Madden; and a multitude of extended family and friends.
The family will receive guests from 6:00-7:00 p.m. today at the funeral home.
