A visitation will be on Friday September 17th at Schooler Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday September 18th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jim Wallace officiating. Burial will be at Silverton Cemetery in Silverton, Texas at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday September 18th. C.D. was born to George and Jewel Kirk on June 8, 1929 in Silverton, Texas. He was a graduate of University of Texas at Arlington and at Purdue University. C.D. was a nuclear and mechanical engineer for NASA and later retired from SPS. He was a Marine stationed in Africa and Washington, D.C. with the state department. C.D. was a member of The Texas Society of Professional Engineers for over ten years. He loved his grandkids and great grand kids and spending time with them.  He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Lucille Smith, Georgia Bell, and Doris Peugh; daughter Karen Kirk Bixler and several nieces and a nephew. He is survived by wife Betty Kirk; daughter Kelly Dunbar and husband Clipper Dunbar and children Ian, Haley, and Shelby of Lockney, Tx; granddaughter Iris Lynnette Maize and husband Jack of Kirksville, MO; great grandchildren Jacob and Shelby Lynne Maize and several nieces and nephews.In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to your favorite organization or charity.
