Daniel Barela

Daniel Barela, 81, of  Amarillo, TX went home to be with our Lord and Savior on January 4, 2021.

Funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2020 at St. Mary’s Catholic Cathedral, 1200 Washington. Interment will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

He was born in Tajique, NM on December 25, 1939 to Juan and Teresa Barela. Daniel grew up in Hereford, TX with his two brothers and ten sisters. He developed his love for carpentry and later went on to build his own future with Barela Construction.

Daniel was loved by everyone he encountered and never met a stranger. He was the most loving husband, dad and gramps.

Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Teresa, his brother Leo and his sons Robert and Randy.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Ginger Barela of Amarillo, his daughter Dannette Riojas of Amarillo, his son Ray Barela of Amarillo, his grandchildren Adam Daniel and Kristyna Navarro, Christian Riojas, Alicia and Ricky Barela, Lexi, Dax and Jackson O’Hair, his six great-grandchildren, his brother, ten sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
