Danny was born in Plainview, Texas, to his parents, Rosendo and Amelia Briseno Aguilera. He attended high school in Plainview. He proudly served his nation in the US Marines during two tours of Vietnam. Because of his service, he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with three stars, and the Presidential Unit Citation.
After his service, he married the beautiful Paula “Pauline” Ruiz in 1969 in Austin, Texas. They began a journey that would last the next fifty-four years. The family was blessed with three children, Mark, Michelle, and Melissa. Danny’s family was of most importance to him. He cherished them and did everything he could to provide for them. Although he could be a bit stubborn occasionally, he faced life, the good and the bad, with humor and encouragement to all those around him. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and virtually all baseball.
Danny was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 13134, where he served as a 3rd degree Knight. He was also a member of the Purple Heart Chapter 553 of the MOPH. Danny worked for over fifteen years at Bell Helicopter, retiring in 2012. After retirement, he and Paula traveled around in the camper for a time. Danny was honored to be a guest on the Honor Flight to Washington, DC, in 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Juanita Rhoades and Josie Cervantez, and a brother, Roy Aguilera.
Danny is survived by his wife, Paula “Pauline”; his two daughters, Michelle Stovall and her husband Mitch and Melissa Hunter and her husband Johnny Rogers; by his son, Mark Aguilera and his wife Vondalynn all of Amarillo; eleven grandchildren, Grace, B.J., Cassie, Cameron, Timothy, Alexis, Britney, Ryan, Logan, Cayden, and Nathan; by fifteen great-grandchildren, Amari, Madi, Braeleigh, Zavien, Zegan, Kole, Kayson, Hagen, Tawney, Hudson, Oakley, Kambri, Remi, Baylor and Memphis and one on the way; and by many nieces and nephews.
