Daphne (Susan) Jackson former resident of Choteau, 46 died at her home in Amarillo, Texas from complications of a long term mitochondrial disease.
Her funeral and burial will be held December 8 in Amarillo with a family gathering to follow.
Susan was born January 16, 1963 in Kalispell, Montana to Bill and Beth (Mace) Brickey.
Susan attended grade school in Eureka, Mt. And graduated with honors from Lincoln County High School, also of Eureka.
After high school she attended U of Montana majoring in Journalism and later received her degree from U of Washington in Seattle.
From early in life Susan found beauty in all of God’s creations, from rocks and butterflies to waterfalls and grizzly bears. Susan’s camera was her constant companion, constantly clicking everything that caught her eye never leaving home without it.
Susan’s love of nature and adventure led her to many parts of North America. From the heights of the Chalets in Glacier National Park to the Caribbean, and from the Pacific to the Atlantic. After college, she began her career for the Corp of Engineers at the Ballard Locks and Botanical Gardens as an interpreter near Seattle. She also worked in other National Parks, but took an early retirement due to her declining health.
December 11, 2004 She married Texan, Rodney (Tex) Jackson, they lived on a ranch near Choteau for 3 years and then moved to Amarillo in 2007.
Her survivors include her husband of Amarillo; her parents Bill and Beth Brickey of Choteau; her brother Paul (Sandy) Brickey of Minford, Ohio; her sisters Alison (Steve) Skelton of Conrad, Mt. and Johnna (Andy) Larsen of Bellingham Wa. And nieces and nephews; Josh and Tracy Brickey, Cassy and Matt Skelton and Kalyn and Jake Larsen.
Memorials are suggested to the MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Assoc.) or UMF (United Mitochondria Foundation).
