Darlene Huffaker, age 89 of Amarillo died 6/15/2012
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Bell Ave Church of Christ with Glen Walton officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Ms. Huffaker was born in Weatherford OK on May 2, 1923 to Franceway and Elsie Pigg. She married Charles William Huffaker on September 11, 1944 in Hattiesburg, MS. They were married 58 years until his passing in 2002.
Darlene enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, quilting. Nothing brought her more joy than raising her children and they describe her as a wonderful Christian mother. Her grandchildren loved spending the night with grandmother. One of the joys of Darlene’s life was the time she spent working at the High Plains Children’s Home and Family Services.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one infant son, Richard, four brothers and four sisters.
Darlene is survived by two daughters, Lynda Jones and husband Forrest, Donna Carpenter and husband Jerry, all of Amarillo; a son, Gary William Huffaker and wife Joyce of Dothan, AL; one sister, June Robertson of Polson, MT; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
The family suggests donations be made to High Plains Children’s Home and Family Services, PO Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114.
