Darrell Keith Benjamin, Age 79, of Amarillo died September 24, 2011 in Amarillo, Texas.
Memorial Services will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, at Llano Cemetery with Rev. John Elser officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Darrell was born in Bradgate, Iowa to Fred and Beulah Benjamin. After graduating from high school 1952, Darrell enlisted in the United States Air Force. While stationed in North Africa, he met his one true love, Chantal Richard. They married in 1957 in Morocco under French Law. In 1959, the coupled transferred to Amarillo Air Base. Darrell served in Viet Nam, Guam and Thailand and retired from the Air Force after over 20 years as a Sr. Master Sergeant.
After discharge from the Air Force, Darrell worked for Levi Strauss, Bell Helicopter and retired from Pantex.
Darrell was an avid shooter, a member of the NRA, ATA and served as a board member of the Amarillo Gun Club.
Survivors include his wife, Chantal; two sisters, Arlene Jones of Gilmore City, Iowa and Audrey Rutz and her husband Don of Livermore, Iowa; four brothers, Roger Benjamin and wife Marian of Humboldt, Iowa, Stanley Benjamin and wife Merna of Gilmore City, Iowa, Richard Benjamin and wife Connie of Gilmore City Iowa, Gerald Benjamin and wife Delores of Des Moines, Iowa; sister-in-law Odile and husband Mark Gross of Amarillo; brother-in-law Jacques and Charlotte Richard of Rockwall, Texas.
