David Carl "D.C." Arterburn

July 30, 1922 — April 6, 2017

D. C. Arterburn, of Amarillo, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017.

Funeral Services for will be 2:00 PM Saturday,  April 8, 2017 at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church with Rev. Gene Hudgins as officiant.  Burial will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger Texas.

Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas 79110.

D. C. was born July 30, 1922 in Stuart, OK to Ernest Forrest and Margaret Leoma Arterburn. He graduated from Ranger Jr. College and then proudly served in the U. S. Coast Guard during WW II.  He spent all his time on a destroyer escort traveling from Iceland to Cuba.   He married Dorothy Lewis in Lubbock on June 6, 1957. They moved to Amarillo in 1963 and he went to work for Detroit Diesel as a parts man and retired from Jack B. Kelley in 1987.  He was a member of Pleasant Valley United Church since 1963, serving in various positions.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Amarillo; one daughter, Kim Arterburn of Houston; one son, James Crossley and wife, Jennifer of Shertz; one brother, E. F. Arterburn Jr. of Lubbock; one granddaughter, Amy Phillips and husband, Kale; and four great grandchildren, Judson, Jedd, Jensen and Jenks Phillips, all of Amarillo.

Family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 pm Friday, April 7, 2017 at the funeral Home.
