David Andrew Hiatt

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Andrew Hiatt. David suffered a tragic fall with complications while decorating his home for Christmas. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, December 18, 2015 at Hillside Christian Church West Campus. Interment will be held at a later date at Scott Union Cemetery in Huron, Ohio. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia Amarillo, Texas 79110.
He was born in New Haven, Connecticut on September 29, 1955 to Maralyn and William Hiatt. He has one sister, Anne (Gary) Hinton. He had two wonderful children from his first marriage of whom he was very proud. They are Matthew (Jamee) Hiatt of Grass Lake, Michigan and Lisa Hiatt of San Francisco, California. He married Deborah Burkhard Amaya on July 23, 2013 and welcomed her children as if they were his own. They are Amanda and Robby Torres, Matthew Amaya, and Ashley Amaya. He had seven grandchildren who brought him great joy. They are Jayden Amaya, Landon Amaya, Jackson Hiatt, Caeleb Amaya, Cameron Amaya, Maycee Hiatt, and Santana Torres. He is also survived by his nieces Megan (Shawn) McClory and Alison Talcott and great nieces Sara and Jayna McClory.
David graduated from Huron High School in 1973. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Miami University (Ohio) in 1977. He obtained a Master’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island in 1979.
He was employed at Affiliated Foods, Inc. as Chief Financial Officer since 2013. He was previously employed with Tony Packo Restaurants as Controller as well as held several other financial related positions throughout the years.
Dave was committed to his Christian Faith and attended Hillside Christian Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, and traveling. He was soft spoken with a keen sense of humor and cared about others deeply. He often expressed that he felt he was enjoying the best aspects of all areas of his life in his marriage, family, friends, and job. He cared very deeply about his colleagues and staff at Affiliated Foods and was very proud to be a member of their family.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia Amarillo, Texas 79110.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Dave Hiatt Memorial Scholarship Fund In Care of Amarillo National Bank PO Box 1 Amarillo, Texas 79105.
