The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Friday August 6th at Schooler Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Saturday August 7th at 10:00 a.m. at the Brentwood Chapel of Schooler Funeral Home with Pastors John Love of Trinity Fellowship and Kenny Bryan officiating, 4100 S. Georgia. Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery of Amarillo. Arrangements by Schooler Funeral Home. Bio: David Scott Whitaker was born April 2, 1962 in Amarillo Texas. Scott grew up at Pritchett Colorado and was very active on the farm and ranch. He was involved in 4H and FFA and graduated from Pritchett High School in 1980. Scott attended Steward County Community College in Liberal Kansas as well as Amarillo College. He later received his Bachelors of Science and Masters from West Texas State University. Scott taught science at Hereford and Hart High Schools. He was also a teacher at Amarillo College and Frank Phillips College. He was a part of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Scott and his wife Cruz are members of Trinity Fellowship Church. Scott was adored and loved and will be missed by many. He is preceded in death by his grandparents J.L. and Winifred Whitaker, and Roy and Bertha Baskett all of Amarillo.He is survived by wife Cruz Whitaker of Hereford Texas; son Colby Shay Whitaker of Canyon Texas; daughter McKenzie Brea Jackson of Anton Texas; step-sons Jordan Salinas and Skylar Jones both of Hereford Texas; mother Patsy Whittenberg and her husband Don of Panhandle Texas; Father Charles Whitaker and wife Judy of Syracuse Kansas; brothers Daniel Whitaker and wife Amy and their children, Sean of Wichita Kansas, and Taylor of China Springs Texas, Tim Whitaker and wife Michelle and their children, Tamara Garrett and Chance of Canyon Texas; and step-brother Jeff Self of Springfield Colorado.In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the Scott Whitaker Scholarship Fund c/o Frank Phillips College at P.O. Box 5118 Borger, Texas 79008.
