Deborah Ann Morgan, 59, of Amarillo died Thursday, March 15, 2018.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 4:00 pm, Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Ann was born in Denton on October 1st 1958 and lived her early childhood in parts North Texas. She and her family moved to Levelland in 1967. She graduated from Levelland High School in 1977. From there, she attended South Plains College and then graduated with a degree in education from West Texas State University in 1982.
Like her parents before her, Ann became a teacher, spending time in Amarillo, Plainview and at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. She retired from Boys Ranch in May of 2016, following a 34-year career in middle school science and special education.
She met Dan Morgan at West Texas State University in the fall of 1979. They re-connected several years later and were married on June 25th 1988 in Levelland and called Amarillo home for 29 years. Daughgter Ashley was born in 1991 and son Christopher in 1995. Both attended Amarillo schools.
70's music was one of the great passions of Ann's life. She could tell you about most of the great artists of the era, but her favorite was Elton John. She had watched him in concert nearly ten times, most recently in October 2017.
Since retirement, Ann had started enjoying the simple life: coffee in morning, her favorite TV shows and the company of her dog and cat. She had also taken up knitting as a hobby, making scarves for family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Marilyn Blassingame of Levelland; and grandparents, Ray and Thecla Blassingame of Whitesboro.
Ann is survived by her husband, Dan Morgan of Amarillo; daughter, Ashley Morgan of Oxford, Mississippi; son, Christopher Morgan of Amarillo; brother in law, Richard Hein of Fritch; and sister in law, Kathy Hein of Fritch, along with numerous cousins.
She will be missed by the members of her "possee," as she called them and by all of those who worked along side her and learned from her.
Family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 pm Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the funeral home.
