Debra "Debbie" Gwen Tigg

Debbie Gwen Tigg went home to Jesus on March 5th, at 68 years old, surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024, from 1pm to 5pm, at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, TX. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024, at 10am in the Hillside Christian Church West Campus Chapel with Tommy Politz and Greg Corona presiding. Burial will follow at 3pm in the City of Groom Cemetery, Groom, TX.

Debbie was born to Curtis and Margret Whatley on August 10th, 1955 in Groom.  The oldest of four children.  She enjoyed cooking, band and 4-H in school.  She graduated in 1973.

Debbie moved to Amarillo with her three children, Darin, Atisha and Cameron, where she met her husband, Ron Tigg and married.

In addition to being a loved daughter, sister, mother and friend throughout Debbie’s life.  She held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.  She was a member of Hillside church and volunteered in the children’s ministry.

Debbie ran a daycare from her house and was an active member of Amarillo Area Daycare Association for 33 years.  She watched children grow and have their own children.  Every child she cared for became her extended family.

She had many passions in life, but the most important was family and friends.  She loved her (Women of Grace) group, monthly daycare meetings and bunco.  Debbie was known as “the pie lady,” a tradition she started with her mom and then passed down to her daughter and granddaughters.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, brother, and brother-in-law.

Debbie is survived by her sisters, Sharlene Lewis, Sheila Whatley and Sha Brewer; Sisters-In-Law, Charlotte Whatley and Carol King; Brother-In-Law, Howell Lewis; her daughter, Atisha Looney; her son, Cameron Tigg and daughter-in-law, Suzzanne Tigg.  Eight Grandchildren, Kelly, Chance, Madison, Makayla, Morgan, Molly, Kimberly and Kadence.  Two Great-Grandchildren, Ryder ad Shyloh.
