Dee was born February 2, 1925 in San Antonio to David and Dorothy Casler. He graduated from high school in San Antonio and attended West Texas Teacher’s College in Canyon. He met and married Lila Lee Brown on June 16, 1950 in Amarillo. Dee was employed by Raytheon Corporation for over twenty years and traveled extensively throughout the world. He and Lila established Honeycrust Hams in 1989 and operated the business for twenty years. Dee was a huge Houston Astro fan and enjoyed all sports, including tennis and basketball. He coached Little League in El Paso for many years and organized the first baseball league in Saudi Arabia. He played semi-pro baseball in the late 1940’s and early 1950’s. He enjoyed attending the WT Lady Buffs basketball games. He was proud to be a third generation Texan. He was “Papa” to his grandkids and great-grandkids. He loved his family and was a great friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Tamira Lee Casler, his sister Dorothy Elizabeth Reid, and his mother Dorothy Robinette Casler.
Dee is survived by his wife Lila of Amarillo; his children, David Casler, Debra Hunter and husband Mike, Rob Casler and partner Richard Ross, Ricky Casler and wife Sharon and Daron Casler and wife Kristi; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, a large extended family, many, many friends, and his Boston Terrier and best friend, Daisy.
