Dewey Edward Isham, Sr., 91 of Amarillo died Sunday, March 23, 2014.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. David Schatte and Rev. Brian Hesse officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Mr. Isham was born December 10, 1922 in Teague, to Luther and Mattie Isham. He married Vera Schoppa March 17, 1946 and together they celebrated 68 years. Dewey served in the United States Army during WWII. He served a Charter Member of Christ Lutheran Church and later attended at Trinity Lutheran Church. Dewey loved collecting coins and working in his work shop. He worked for Pantex for one year and at Texico for over 30 years. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his world. He loved them dearly. Dewey loved fishing with his grandson, Barrett.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers George Isham and William Isham, and a sister Annie Lou Rankin.
He is survived by his wife Vera; daughter Rita Saikowski and husband Anthony of Amarillo; Son, Dewey Isham Jr. and wife Sue of Celina; Sister Clytee Wanik; five grandchildren, Whitney Baccus and husband Drew, Taylor Barrick and husband Brady, Michelle Thompson and husband Jeff, Kelli Isham, and Barrett Saikowski and wife Carley; and nine great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
