On Tuesday, August 24, 2021, Dixie Bryant, loving wife of John Bryant Jr. and mother of Laura Sellers (Charlie) and Jeremy Bryant, passed away at the age of 81.
Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 3, 2021 at Lake Tanglewood Community Church. Reception and reminiscing to follow the service. Services by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.
Dixie was born September 1, 1939 to Francis and Melvin Ernest of Findlay, Ohio. Dixie moved to Texas and married John Bryant Jr. of Amarillo, July 17, 1959. Dixie had a vibrant banking career, and worked with the Special Olympics Chapter in Amarillo. She was involved with the Beta Sigma Phi chapter in Amarillo, that blossomed long lasting friendships, enjoyed lunch-dates with her friends to Cheddar’s, Denny’s and Casinos with dad (sorry mom)! Words to describe Dixie: “More than 9 lives”, the most caring person in the world for EVERYONE and “A touch of class”- Love Myra.
Dixie was preceded in death by her parents; Francis and Melvin Ernest, and sisters; Diane Hansen, Portia Arntzen, and Virginia Seitz.
Survivors include a brother; M. Earl Ernest of Chandler, Arizona, and sisters; Myra Best of Sullivan, Ohio, and Reine Iturbe of Clovis, California.
Sparkles of her eyes: “The Gigi’s”- Lindsay Bryant, Morgan Bryant, Grace Bryant, and Madilyn Moran, and grandsons- Brett Britten (Britney) of Groom, Blaine Britten (Katie) of San Antonio, Piper and Rafe Britten of Groom, John Bryant III and Parker Bryant of Amarillo.
In lieu of flowers: Donations are requested to Special Olympics, American Cancer Society, or American Heart Association.
