Dolores, born November 14, 1937, to Mitchell Lantagne and Clarice Bourassa in Niagara, Wisconsin, was a woman of remarkable strength and dedication. She served with pride in the Army for three years, a testament to her resilience and commitment. On June 15, 1965, she married her sweetheart Kenneth Story, a union that began at the Pearl Harbor Baptist Church in Hawaii and was later solemnized in a Catholic church.
Dolores was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; her love for her family was profound and enduring. This was seen in her Sunday dinners, where there had to be a dessert, baking cookies for her sweet grandchildren to enjoy when they came over, and sewing up any rip that might pop up on a garment. One of her favorite things to do with her family is travel. Some of the family's most cherished memories involve their trips to Hawaii, camping out in South Fork, Colorado, and the cabin she shared with Kenneth in Red River, New Mexico. During these many trips, and at home, you would probably hear county music playing in the background, as this was her favorite genre.
Dolores is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth Story; daughter, Lorena Greer; son, John Michael Story, and wife, Beth; sister, Phyllis Rihtarshich; one brother, Gary Lantagne, and wife Margaret; six grandchildren: Chelsea, Joshua, Megan, Harlee, Dakota, and Paislee; and one great-granddaughter Robyn.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, four brothers, and one sister.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to the charity or church of your choice.
The family wishes to thank the staff at BSA Hospice of the Southwest and Harrington Cancer Center for their wonderful comfort and aid during Dolores’s illness. Special thanks to Kaye Branigan and Delores Story for their many thoughtful conversations, prayers, and cards during Dolores’s courageous battle during her sickness.
