Don was born to Alvie Allen and Mildred Urquhart Allen on May 11, 1932 in Whittenburg, (Phillips) Texas.His happiness was working. He started paying social security when he was nine years old. As a child during the summers he worked as a golf caddy, bottling champagne for a bottle company, and at a grocery store. As an adult he worked many years in the oil fields all over the southwest and some off-shore rigs in California and Louisiana. He attended Ventures College for two years to become certified as an automobile mechanic. He worked as a mechanic for Toyota in Florida for four years. He married the love of his life Marilyn in 1964, in Ventura, California. They were married forty-seven years.He was a mechanic for the city of Huntington Beach for ten years. He enjoyed helping friends and family when they had mechanical problems with their cars.On return to Borger he repaired lawn mowers and raised dogs.He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; daughter, Melody Doughty, and husband Jim; granddaughter, Carlene Kirby, and husband Ron; and two grandsons in the military.
