Don Stark

February 26, 1941 — September 17, 2015

Don Stark, age 74 of Amarillo, went to be with the Lord on September 17, 2015 in Amarillo.
Graveside services will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM at Llano Cemetery East and a memorial service will follow at 10:00 AM at Washington Avenue Christian Church.  Rev. Jim Shelburne will officiate.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.
Don was born February 26, 1941, to Donnie Blackwell and Sara Lee Stark in Amarillo.  He attended Amarillo Public Schools and graduated from AHS.   After graduation he attended Texas Tech.  On July 30, 1960 he married his best friend, Sammye Clay.  The two recently celebrated their fifty- fifth anniversary.
Don and Sammye have spent the last 30 years working in affiliation with Western Associates.   Don was a lover of life; he enjoyed staying busy and active at all times.  He also loved working as a computer draftsman assisting his son, Scott in his architect business.    He created beautiful pieces of wood carvings and was a proud member of the Golden Spread Wood Carvers; he was considered a master woodcarver by many.  Don truly enjoyed the creative process and was a multi-faceted individual.
Don was devoted to the Lord and was an active member of Washington Avenue Christian Church and the Gideon’s.  He and Sammye have been members of the church since 1976. Perhaps his greatest joy was that of his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 4 PM until 5 PM.
He is survived by his wife Sammye; his son Scott Stark and wife Becky; his daughter, Michele Daniels all of Amarillo;   his sister Sally Moore of Ruidoso, New Mexico; his four grandchildren Savannah Stark, Chance Stark, Trey Daniels and Jonathan Daniels; and 10 great children including little C.J. whom made his entrance into the world yesterday as Don was entering the gates of Heaven.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Washington Avenue Christian Church Building Fund, 3800 South Washington St, Amarillo, TX 79110; Gideons International, 2200 SW 7th Avenue Amarillo, TX 79106; or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 3350 Olsen BLVD # 1700, Amarillo, TX 79109
