A visitation will be held on Thursday July 8, 2010 at Schooler Funeral Home 4100 S. Georgia, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 9th, at The Brentwood Chapel of Schooler Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. Charlie Cox will officiate. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Dona Mae Hudgins was born to Benjamin Pendergrass & Ida Farrow in Pocahontas Arkansas. Dona moved to Amarillo in 1950 to begin her career in the hospitality industry. She worked as hostess and waitress for several restaurants, many which were milestone businesses in Amarillo such as; Leflers Pancake House, Canton Café and finally retiring in 2006 from the Ming Palace. She was a member of Hillside Christian Church in Amarillo. Dona enjoyed going to church, playing the nickel slots in Vegas, cooking dinner for her family during the holidays, and helping to raise her beloved grandchildren, Karen and Jason Joe. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to David Hawkins, Michael, Gidget, Handsome & Little Bit Stone for all the love and care given to Dona over the last year and a half of her life. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Washer of Amarillo; grandson Jason Joe of Amarillo; granddaughter Karen Joe of Amarillo; special friends, Steve, Denise, Michael, & Lance Tennison of Flower Mound, Texas; James and Mona Joe of Amarillo, Texas & Scott Edwards of Amarillo, Texas.
