After serving in the army in the early 1950’s, he went on to have a career with the Santa Fe Railroad as a communications operator until 1959 at which time he began a successful 40 year career with Mason & Hanger (Pantex), retiring there in 2000. In addition to working for Pantex, he also established and operated the Glenn Insurance Agency of Amarillo until his retirement.

He was also an active gardener all of his life. After retirement, he achieved the Master Gardener award from the Texas Extension Service and remained very involved in planting and maintaining several volunteer locations within the club until his health no longer allowed him to do so.
Devoted in his Catholic Church life, Don was among the first laity to become a Eucharistic Minister and Lector resulting from liturgical changes in the 1960’s. He also served on multiple Catholic ACTS retreat teams and was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1450.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters (Pearl Opsal, Betty Masten, and Lena May Nix), and two brothers (Stephen J. Glenn, and Winiford Brad Glenn).
