Donald Hershinger, 75, of Amarillo, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2017 in Schooler Funeral Home’s Brentwood Chapel.  Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia.

Don was born on March 4, 1942 in Amarillo to Floyd and Rosemary Hershinger. He married the love of his life, Marilyn, on October 7, 1961.  They were married for 56 years. They had three daughters and traveled all over with his work as a pipe fitter welder.  He fulfilled a life long dream of going to Alaska where he worked 20 years until retirement.  He stayed busy after he retired with his garden, trees, and birdwatching.  He loved to fish and was an avid arrowhead hunter. He was proud of his family and never met a stranger.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and one grandson, Todd Cathey.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Hershinger of Amarillo; three daughters, Mandi Browning and husband Randy of Amarillo, Margie Cathey and husband Gerald of Amarillo, Connie Britten and husband Pat of Groom; seven grandchildren, Bruce Browning and Brent Browning, both of Amarillo, Bradley Browning of Durango, Colorado, Katie White and husband Dusty of Amarillo, Brett Britten and wife Britney of Groom, Blaine Britten and wife Katie of San Antonio, and Colby Britten of Groom; six great grandchildren Myles White, Lila White, Kenzie Britten, Hayden Britten, Piper Britten and Rafe Britten.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. today.
