Donald Scott Mullins, 78, of Amarillo died Tuesday, September 16, 2014.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 22, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church.  Dr. Murray Gossett and Rev. Lane Boyd will officiate. Private inurnment will be held at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.

Don was born February 27, 1936 in Amarillo, Texas to Paul V and Mary E. Payne-Mullins.
He was a 1954 graduate of Amarillo High School and attended 13 universities which include Amarillo College, West Texas State, University of Texas, CSCLA, UCLA, USC, Pasadena College, Wharton and others.

Don served in the US Army as a Captain in Airborne and the Special Forces.

Don's professional career included finance; He was a CPA with Deliotte & Touche, Small Business development and investment partnerships.  Don took the Nichols Institute (an endocrinology testing laboratory) public. Nichols Institute merged with Owens Corning and later became Quest Diagnostic. Don joined in Occulab's development of the Tonometer (Tono-Pen), which measures eye pressure. The Donald S. Mullins Gallery was Don's last business.

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul V. and Mary E. Payne-Mullins and his wife Bernice Z Brown, MD.

Don is survived by his life partner Janelle Beck Hutchison, his sister Priscilla Braun and her husband Jordan Braun of Oklahoma City, and stepdaughters Trudy and Melanie Brown of Denver.

Don "Scottie'' loved life and people and firmly believed in random acts of kindness given in secret.  Don considered all friends his best friends, once a friend always a friend.
