A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 27th at 4:00 PM at Polk Street United Methodist Church. Rev. Lain Boyd will officiate. A private family burial will be held at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.Don R. Reid, age 75 died September 24th in Amarillo. Mr. Reid was born in Amarillo to Donald and Martha Reid on February 19, 1935. Don started his working career in 1948 at the young age of 13. He was the youngest checker ever employed at Furr Food Market. He was asked to join Poole Furniture Store in 1950. He was later employed at Southern Furniture where he became the top salesman and buyer while still in high school. Don graduated from Amarillo High School in and went on the graduated from Amarillo College. In 1964, he was encouraged by his many customers to organize his own business which became Don R. Reid Interior design Inc. Throughout his forty five year career he completed design jobs all over Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Virginia, Arizona, California, Washington D.C., Kansas, Hawaii, Canada, Scotland, and England. Don was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers, founding board member of the Harrington House, and Interior designer for the Sybil B. Harrington Cancer Center and worked as a consultant with the Texas Tech Interior Design Department. His numerous clients have become loyal friends throughout many generations as well as repeat customers. He was highly recognized and renowned by numerous colleagues in the furniture and design industry. He was an avid gardener and loved his boat.The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM until 3:30PM at the funeral home.He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father Ray Martin and great granddaughter, Ansley Vell RoyeDon was a loving father and grandfather and is survived by his two daughters, Celeste Couture and husband Bill of Amarillo, Shannon Caldwell and husband Jack of Amarillo; son Branch Reid and wife Deni of Amarillo; his ten grandchildren, Sarah Couture; Rose Ann Roye, Branch Anderson Reid Jr, Anos Couture, Leigh Anna Gummersheimer, Mason David Crews, Chase Aaron Reid, Christler Elliott Crews, Reid Caldwell, and Parker Caldwell; his eight Great Grandchildren, Tatem, Riley, Brinley, Dylan, Kenna, Lindsey, Ella, Maeleigh. He also survived by faithful friends, Barney Moore, Beverly Casias, Tammy Cavazos, Tim Oberbrockling, and Devin Bliss.
