Donald "Wayne Fair

June 22, 1954 — September 6, 2021

Donald Wayne Fair slipped peacefully into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ after a short bout with covid at age 67.

Memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 1401 Madison. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home.

He was the third child of six born to Donald William Fair and Lola Wenona Dennington Fair on June 22, 1954 in Clovis, New Mexico. Wayne, as the son of a preacher, began his education in Fort Sumner, New Mexico and went on to graduate from Los Alamos High School. As a teen and young adult he loved to ski, play basketball, was an avid bicyclist and sing with the Singing Cowboys. Although he attended two years at Lubbock Christian College, he never stopped learning.  He was the master of reinventing himself.  He trained for welding, HVAC, Insurance sales, wind-turbine technology, and for the last six years he did long haul truck driving, most recently driving for Dee King, LLC.  He loved to entertain.  His smile would always brighten your day and his corny jokes and puns would make you laugh, but rarely laugh harder than he did. Wayne loved visiting with people one-on-one and it usually was regarding the Bible, politics or his latest joke.  We are so  grateful for the secure hope that we will see him again.

Wayne was survived by his wife of 44 years, Claudia Marguerite ‘Meg’ Finley whom he married on November 5, 1976, his daughter Brittany Paige Fair.   His departure leaves a tremendous hole in our family.  Surviving him are his father Don Fair, his siblings; Kay Hurley, Barbara (Arlie) Eicke, Kathleen (Mike) Talbot, Gradeen (Terry) Tribble, and Randy (Linda) Fair, numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and a multitude of friends who will miss him greatly. He was preceded in death by his mother and a favorite mentor Uncle Carrel Dennington.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to High Plains Children’s Home and Family Services, Inc at 11461 S. Western St. Amarillo, TX  79118
