Donnie R. Hefner

Donnie R. “Don” Hefner, age 84, died Tuesday, November 20, 2012.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 6, 2012 in Brentwood Chapel at Schooler Funeral Home.  Services will be conducted by Palo Duro Masonic Lodge #1239.  Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas.

Don was born January 6, 1928 in McCamey, Texas to Judge Walker Hefner and Bernice Kimmel Hefner.  He married Wilma Pogue in San Antonio, Texas on January 5, 1953.

Don retired from EI Paso Natural Gas Company after 27 years, including four years in Algeria. He served in the Marine Corp in China in World War II and Korea.  He is a lifetime member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and the China Marine Association.  He is a Past District Grand Master and a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 47 years.

Don is preceded in death by his mother and father; his sister Margie Coffield; his brother David Hefner; and his good friend Arty Hawkins

Survivors include his wife, Wilma; his son Robert Hefner; daughters, Donnie Ruth Parrack and Dorinda J. Rodriguez; his grandchildren Juanita A. Hefner, Andres J. Silva and his wife Jessi, John D. Parrack and his wife Cari, Dawson R. Hefner and his wife Kayla, Arielle R. Rodriguez, Jessica M. Rodriguez; five great grandchildren; his sisters, Dorothy Eaker and Wilma Pritchard; and his brother, Glen Hefner and his wife, Joe Ann.
