Doris K (Kitson) Kaczmarek

Doris K. Kaczmarek, age 76 of Amarillo died February 3, 2017 .
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church on Thursday, February 9, 2017. Celebrant will be Rev. John Valdez and Msgr. Harold Waldow will be concelebrant. A reception will be held immediately following the mass in the church parlor. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Doris was born July 19, 1940 in Bay City, Michigan to her parents, Harry and Margaret Neering Kitson. Doris obtained both her bachelors and masters degrees in Chemistry from the University of Michigan, where she continued to study academic chemistry for several years. She married John Kaczmarek on December 28, 1963 in Bay City, Michigan.
The family moved to Amarillo in 1976 from Michigan.
Doris had a passion for travel; having been fortunate enough to visit seven continents.
She was the coordinator of the ALT Playbill ad sales for over twenty five years; always exceeding prior sales expectations and continuously raising the bar for the publication.
The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5 PM until 7 PM.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. John Kaczmarek of the home; her daughter, Kristine Hood and husband Marc and their sons, Jonathan and Braeden of Canberra, Australia; her son, Douglas Kaczmarek and his daughters, Melanie and Allison of Amarillo; her son, Michael Kaczmarek and his wife Pamela, and their children Andrew, McKenzie and Matthew of Greenville, South Carolina; her daughter, Andrea Goodner and her husband Johnnie, and their daughter Addison of Coppell, TX; and her sister-in-law, Mary Lou Swihart and husband Phillip of Bay City, MI.
The family would like to recognize the diligence of the staff of BSA Hospice of the Southwest in their loving care of Doris.
The family suggests that memorials be made to ALT, one of the passions of her life, Amarillo Little Theatre, 2019 Civic Circle, Amarillo, Texas 79109.
