Doris Kuehler, 81, of Amarillo passed away on July 30, 2014.
Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Groom. Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2014 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Groom with Rev. Ken Keller as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Groom. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Doris was born on June 30, 1933 to Willard and Mattie Clark McAdams in Amarillo, Texas, and lived most of her life in Groom. She married Arnold Kuehler on July 7, 1955. They were married for 45 years before his death on July 14, 2000. Doris was a hard worker. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper before being employed by the US Postal Service. She served as Post Master in Groom and retired after 20+ years of service. In 2005 Doris moved to Amarillo, but always considered Groom her home. She was a faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Groom since 1955 and most recently at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Amarillo. Doris cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved reading, country music, gardening and spending time with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Ludeen Wieberg; a brother, Carey McAdams; and a granddaughter, Jaymie Adams.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Karla Vasek and husband Donald of Sherman, TX; sons Kent Kuehler and wife Cindy of Nowata, OK, and Kevin Kuehler and wife Rena of Amarillo; a sister Sue Smith of Berryton, Kansas; grandchildren Amber Kocian and husband Chuck, Bryan Vasek, Lindy Loveland and husband Michael, Selena Cole and husband Aaron, Bryan Kuehler and wife Billie, Colby Kuehler and wife Samantha, Travis Kuehler and wife Heather, Kylie Holt and husband Jeremy, Kaci Kuehler, and Kelcie Kuehler; great-grandchildren Tate and Shelly Cole, Garrett and Wyatt Kuehler, and Briggs and Brady Holt.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church or a favorite charity.
