Doris Lea Slaton

Doris was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on January 25, 1930, to Joe and Emma Gordon. She married Floyd Slaton on June 11, 1955 in Pampa, Texas at the First Baptist Church. She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church for over 23 years.
Doris, a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved and served the Lord with her entire heart. She was always bright and full of joy, wearing vivid colors and clothing. Doris loved music and singing, and was a member of the Christian Women’s Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Jo Wilhite, in 2008.
She is survived by her husband Floyd; her son Jim Slaton and wife, Joyce, of Fritch, TX; brother-in-law, Claude Wilhite of Sulphur Springs, TX; one uncle, Tom “Sonny” Teague of Pampa, TX; one nephew, Dr. Darrell Garrison and wife Lamoyne, of Amarillo, TX; six grandchildren, James Paul Slaton, Michelle Nowak, Bethany Matlock, Lorena Short, Duffy Errington, and Amanda Slaton, and 16 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Building Program at Paramount Baptist Church, 3801 S. Western, Amarillo, Texas 79109.
