Dorothy Bryant died peacefully on March 9, 2012. She is preceded in death by a husband, Guy Davenport, a son, Dwight David Davenport in 1988, her parents, Hugh and May Ella Sparkman; and a sister, and her second husband, Dr. Isadore “Buck” Dravin. She is survived by her husband, H. Harold Bryant; her son, Danny Davenport of Broken Arrow, OK; her granddaughter, Dixie Davenport Franklin of Dallas, Texas; her great grandchildren, David and Isabella Franklin; her son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Becky Bryant; her nephew, Paul Brooks of Pensacola, Florida; her niece, Andrea Hartmann of Paulden, Arizona, plus many loyal and true friends, especially Cheryl Hall Cohen, who stayed close by her side during the final days of her life.
She was a professional model for Sears, a position that required travel and relocation. It was in Amarillo where she met Dr. Isadore Dravin, a highly-regarded internist. Dorothy was totally independent and self-reliant. Dorothy lived the good life. She enjoyed fine restaurants and shopping for clothes, the latter emphasized by the fact that she once had a 40-foot-long closet, filled with fine apparel. But her most valued treasures in life were her friends. She loved to laugh, she loved to dance, and she was known to use any excuse for a party. Just being with Dorothy could be an adventure. Those of us who knew her will miss her dearly, and we’ll always feel blessed for having had her in our lives.
