Dorothy Dee Jones, age 84, died Sunday, November 11, 2012.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel with Mr. Glen Walton officiating.  Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.   Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.

Dorothy was born in Barnard, Missouri to Ray and Gertrude Hackett on October 23, 1928. She went to grade school in Barnard and graduated from Horace Mann at Maryville in 1946.  She met her husband, Harold on a blind date in September 1947.  They were married a year later on November 7, 1948.  They lived on the farm for years and had one daughter, Barbara.  Besides riding horses, Dorothy enjoyed gardening.  She and Harold square danced for 30 years and enjoyed traveling and just plain having fun!   The family moved to Amarillo in 1958 and Dorothy worked for the American Quarter Horse Association for 30 years until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister Moretta Throckmorton; and two brothers, Dean and Wilbur Hackett.

Dorothy is survived by Harold, her husband of 64 years; a daughter, Barbara Sibley and husband Larry of Ruidoso; grandson Jody Barrett and wife Melinda; great-grandson Tyler Barrett and wife Ashley; one great-granddaughter, Katie Kay and one great-great granddaughter, Maddisyn Barrett; one aunt, Margie Ware; sister-in-law, Norma Snyder; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 6-7:00 PM on Friday, November 16 at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials be made to The Cottages at Quail Creek, Alzheimer’s Memory Care, 8611 Plum Creek Drive, Amarillo, TX 79106.
