DOROTHY E. MCINNISH, former Amarillo and Plainview resident, died April 15, 2013 at the age of 93.
Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Plainview. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia, Amarillo, Texas.
She was born September 13, 1919 to John E. and Mattie O. McInnish in Hamilton, Texas and moved to Plainview as a young child. She graduated from Plainview High School and went on to attend Business College. She worked briefly as a legal secretary and for the U.S. Government during World War II and eventually settled in Amarillo. She began working for Amarillo National Bank in 1946 and retired as an Officer in the Trust Department after thirty four years of service. Following retirement, she returned to Plainview and continued to be very active in numerous social clubs and served 13,500 hours as a hospital auxiliary volunteer. In recent years, she had relocated to Amarillo, then Albuquerque, NM with family.
Dorothy brought smiles to many with her wit and charm, was dedicated in all that she pursued, and was an inspiration to many during her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Katherine Pulley; a brother, Grafton McInnish and sister-in-law Beulah Wayland Winn McInnish, nephew, Robert Pulley and his daughter Kathie Munson. Most recently in March, she was preceded in death by nephew, George “G.G.” Pulley.
She is survived by great nieces, Dorothy Elizabeth Walker of Albuquerque NM, Marilyn Tumlin Turner of Cummin, GA, Roberta Pollock and Renee Turner, both of Mustang, OK. She is also survived by numerous great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Schooler Funeral Home in Amarillo on Friday, April 19, from 5-8pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a favorite charity.
