Dorothy (Marsh) Plummer

Dorothy Marsh Plummer, age 94, of Amarillo, entered the gates of Heaven on July 18, 2023, in Amarillo.

The family will receive guests on Thursday evening, July 20, 2023, from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.  The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel.  Interment will follow at Llano Cemetery.

Dorothy was born on July 25, 1928, in Chanute, Kansas, to her parents, Jesse and Suzie Marsh.  On April 10, 1948, she married John David Plummer.  Together they would share the next sixty-six years until he died in 2015.  The family moved to Amarillo from Kermit in 2011.

Dorothy devoted her life to God and her family.  She was involved in the church's shut-in ministry for many years, serving those who could not leave home.  She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.  Her daughter Janet was not always a fan of the clothing her mom made for her but knew it was a product of love.   Even today, Dorothy's doilies and creations can be found in family and friends' homes.

She and her son Jerry had a dinner date on Thursday nights for years.  Dorothy had three go-to places, but her favorite was Dairy Queen, where she always ordered the steak fingers and enjoyed a vanilla shake to go along with her meal.  Even when her health prevented her from leaving home, Jerry never missed Thursday dinners with Mom.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ella Colvin and Ruth Russell; two brothers, Henry, and Gene Marsh; her husband, John David Plummer; and a grandson, Doyle.
Dorothy's legacy will live on in the lives of her daughter Janet Tidwell and her husband Mike of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; by her son Jerry Plummer and his wife Carolyn of Amarillo; by her sister, Cleo Kimzey; four grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three great-great children with three others on the way.
