Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Her life was guided by a strong Christian faith manifested through her focus on the church and its activities at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Plainview and Trinity Lutheran Church in Amarillo; she was always an enthusiastic alto in the choir and she served as church organist for 16 years. She was, above all, a nurturing mother, a loving teacher, and an extraordinary example to her children and their families who survive: one son, Keith Schoppa and wife Beth of Towson, MD; three daughters, Janis Nafzger and husband Samuel of Washington, MO; Nancy Duensing of Denver, CO; Karen Hengst of Colorado Springs, CO; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Schoppa of Tampa, FL; and a sister, Jeannelle Hintze of St.Louis, MO. Her joy lay in her family and serving them; she cherished her 17 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Randy Schoppa; a son-in-law, Earnest Hengst; and four sisters.
The family suggests memorials be made to The Lutheran Hour Radio Ministries, 660 Mason Ridge Center, St. Louis, MO, 63141 or to Trinity Lutheran Church in Amarillo.
