Dory Carlson England was born August 30, 1955 to Joann and Speck England. Dory went to Palo Duro High School until joining the United States Marine Corps at age 17.
Dory married Fayann and they had four children together, Robbi, Audrey, Ina, and Dory Jr.
In 1989, Dory met the love of his life, Debbie and they married and had one son Mark England of Amarillo, TX. Dory and Debbie were blessed to bring three more children into their home by adopting Kourtney, Kayla, and Jonathan.
Dory began his life of service as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps. He reached the rank of Warrant Officer III and served on Presidential Security for the Nixon administration. He served on the security detail for Secretary of State, Dr. Henry Kissinger, and was awarded the Presidential Citation of Bravery during that time. Dory loved the Marine Corps, the brothers he had, and truly loved his country.
After military life, Dory started a career in pest control and attended school studying Entomology. After working in California as a student, he started his own company Guardian Pest Control. He was very intelligent and a great business man with his company. While moving to Texas, Dory began to work for Builders Transport as a driver. This was fine until he met Debbie and he wanted to be home with his family… so he continued his pest control business, opened a bar-b-q business, and would do painting jobs for houses and businesses. Dory ended his work-life as a produce manager for Albertsons. He worked for the company for many years until an injury caused him to retire.
During retirement, Dory stayed busy. He found purpose in serving in his church as a sound and camera operator. He would pick up dozens of kids each Wednesday night for youth service. He even preached a couple of times. He was always faithful to be there for his son Mark, even when he was in a lot of pain. He never let his discomfort prevent him from serving his Lord, his church, or from supporting Mark. When he wasn’t at church, he was always doing something for the church. He was a master craftsman, and built beautiful crosses, and items from different mesquite trees he would personally go out and find. He loved to find old trees that were burned in wild fires and have his son Jon cut it down and load it up for him so he could make gifts for people. Dory enjoyed prospecting for gold, and metal detecting any chance he got.
Dory spent his life instilling strong Christian values to his children. He was always supportive, and pushed them to pursue their goals and breakthrough the limits. Dory attended every PTA meeting, sporting event, “mothers” meetings, plays, and concerts that any of his children were involved in. Dory found his greatest pleasure in life when he was watching his kids fulfill their dreams. He was a devoted dad and the biggest support for all his children and grandchildren on the sidelines. Dory took great pride in being a grandfather. His grandchildren all knew they were dearly loved by Papa. He was blessed with 17 grandchildren, Cassandra, Charlie, Marcy, Will, Draven, Adrian, Myranda, Caurine, Josh, Aimee, Makaylee, Creed, Matthew, Avery, Walter, Sarah and Oliver; and several great grandchildren, Topanga, Elliana, Nikayla, Kaison, Mason and Tori-Jo. Dory had many nieces and nephews, whom he beloved greatly.
Dory was preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn; father, Speck; brothers, Ronnie and Danny; granddaughter, Victoria; and great-granddaughters, Anna-Lynn, and Gabby.
He leaves behind his wife, Debbie England of Amarillo; 8 children, daughter Robbi England of St. George Utah, daughter Warden Audrey England of Gatesville Texas, daughter Ina Kloss of Aurora Missouri, son Dory England Jr. of Springfield Missouri, son Mark England and wife Hannah of Amarillo, daughter Kortney England of Amarillo, daughter Kayla Bowman and husband Jag of Amarillo, and son Jonathan England of Amarillo; 17 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
