Douglas Alan Wagner

September 17, 1966 — May 31, 2023

Vega

Douglas Alan Wagner, age 56 of Vega, was called home to Heaven rather unexpectedly on May 31, 2023.

Public viewing will be Sunday, June 4, 2023, from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia in Amarillo.  The funeral service will be on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Vega, with Pastor Brian Hervin officiating. The interment will be in the Palo Duro Cemetery in Wildorado.

Douglas was born on September 17, 1966, in Amarillo, Texas, to his parents, Glen and Marilyn Alan Wagner. He graduated from Vega High School in 1985.
On January 27, 1990, he married his best friend and love, Kelly Pendley, in Vega.  The couple made their home right outside of Vega and started their family, which grew to include three children.  They were members of the First Baptist Church in Vega.

Douglas was a hard worker and spent most of his time farming.  However, he could be found alongside Kelly in the traveling boutique when he wasn't farming.  He enjoyed the occasional trip to the casino and may have liked to gamble just a bit.

Douglas was quite fond of the Andy Griffith Show and MASH; he enjoyed the simple things, like watching his favorite shows with his dogs.  He also liked to monitor the weather, mainly so he could complain about it.

His mother, his Uncle Bob “B.R.” Wagner; his grandmother Dorothy Wagner; and his grandfather, Wilbur Wagner, preceded him in death.

Douglas is survived by his wife of thirty-three years, Kelly; his daughter Haley Wagner; his two sons, Garrett Wagner and his wife Maranda and Forest Wagner; his two brothers, Glen W. Wagner and David L. Wagner, and his wife Linda; his father, Glen Wagner; two grandsons, Levi and Luke; his five dogs; and two cats.

The family suggests memorials be made to Gracie's Project, P.O. Box 2512, Amarillo, Texas 79015, in memory of Douglas.
