Service: 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 23, 2010 at Schooler Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Deckard officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens.Bio: Cleveland Turner Jr. M.D. of Amarillo, Texas passed away in his home surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the age of 79. Cleveland was born in Belzoni, MS on July 7, 1931, where he lived until he attended Millsaps College in Jackson MS in 1949. He continued his education and graduated from Tulane Medical School with a medical degree on May 28, 1956. While attending medical school he met and married Dorothy Elizabeth Jernigan. They were married for 49 years until she passed away on March 13, 2000. Captain Cleveland Turner Jr. served in the United States Air Force as a medical doctor from 1963-1965. In 1974, he and his wife moved to Amarillo where he practiced medicine for over 30 years at the VA Hospital until his his retirement. Dr. Turner was a member of the Texas Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, the International Kiwanis Club of downtown Amarillo, and the Elk’s Club of Albuquerque.Cleveland is survived by his son, Cleveland Turner III and wife Patricia; his two daughters, Diane Elizabeth Kazlow and husband Charles, and Linda Gale Scholl and husband Charles; his grandchildren Wes and Brandi Turner, Chip and Marissa Scholl, Marcy and Carson Freiberg, Andrea and Loren Jacobs, and Kelly and Sissy Scholl, and his two great-granddaughters Kathlene and Tori.
