He eventually moved his practice to rural Texas communities where he served the medical needs in smaller communities. He spent over fifty years practicing medicine and touched the lives of countless people by sharing his gift. He was as much their healer as he was a member of their community. It was in Amarillo that he met his wife, Elizabeth, and married her on September 1, 1990. They enjoyed 31 years together. Outside of medicine, Dr. Matos loved riding his Paso Fino horses and showing the community how they danced.
