Earnest Rennels went home to see the Lord peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday May 3rd, 2022.
Viewing will be on Friday May 6th at Schooler Funeral Home from 12 PM to 1 PM, 4100 South Georgia. Graveside service will follow at Memory Gardens at 2:00 PM, 14200 IH-27 South.
Earnest was born May 7th, 1944 in Lubbock, Texas to Lloyd and Willie Rennels. He grew up and graduated in Lubbock. Earnest met and married the love of his life Gwen Cardinal on June 11, 1977. He worked at Eagle Pitcher for 35 years before retiring. Earnest and Gwen moved to Amarillo TX in 2015 until the present.
He loved to travel with his lovely wife and their little dog Max, they had many special adventures together over the years. He enjoyed driving fast and living life to the fullest. Some of his favorite times were spent with his family sitting around visiting. He loved living in the Texas Panhandle and had a great love for Westerns. Earnest was fond of watching some of his favorite Western movies starring John Wayne, and never passed up a chance to see Bonanza. He was an early riser and loved cooking himself and their little dogs, Ty and Tay, a fried egg sandwich. He was always dressed for the occasion, even if it was to sit and watch his beloved Westerns.
Earnest was proceeded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters. He is survived by his wife Gwen Rennels; two sons David and Joe Rennels; daughters Deborah Halsted and husband Phillip; Kathy Eve; seven grandchildren; Cory Halsted and wife Ashley; Adam Halsted and wife Jackie; James Christian Eve and wife Michelle; Brian Eve; Kaytlyn Rennels; Justin Rennels; Jordan Rennels; and four great grandchildren.
