Eldon E. Berry age 85 of Amarillo, died February 27, 2016
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 1st at 2:00 PM at The Church of Christ at the Colonies. Mr. Dick Marcear will officiate. Interment will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
Eldon was born June 16, 1930 in Runnels County, Texas to Alva and Blanche Berry. He attended high school in Ballinger but graduated from Tivy High School in 1948 after moving to Kerrville. In 1949 he moved to Amarillo to begin learning the ins and outs of the construction business from a cousin.
Eldon met and married Bonita Ragan on May 3, 1953 in Amarillo after a blind date and a speedy romance. That marriage and love affair would span over the next sixty-two years and nine months.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Connie C. Berry; and a daughter Reida Gayle Sandridge.
The family will receive guests at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 PM until 7:30 PM.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie of over 62 years; his son Richard Wayne Berry and his wife Judy of Spring; his two daughters, Ronda Dayle Hixson and her husband Kenny of Oklahoma City and Robin Marie Hinnant and her husband Jon Mark of Amarillo; his sister, Devona Burns and her husband Bill of Abilene; his grandchildren, Brandon Berry, Bryan Berry and his wife Lindsey, Bethany Berry all of Spring, Kenda and Kyler Hixson of Oklahoma City, Jordan and Ryan Hinnant of Amarillo; Jada and Juliana Sandridge of Amarillo; and his great grandchildren, Spencer Williams, Cayden and Cameron Berry of Spring, Texas.
